Kool & The Gang’s ‘Greatest Hits’ Presents ‘Kool Dozen’ Hits From The Band

This Greatest Hits collection features a “kool dozen” of the band’s best tracks across the generations, from “Celebration” to ”Hollywood Swinging.”

Side A of the vinyl edition includes early tracks like “Jungle Boogie,” while Side B features the band’s vocal smashes, highlighted by smashes like “Get Down On It.” The release also comes with an extensive historical essay from a band insider. The special album marks the band’s return to vinyl for the first time in decades, punctuated by an exclusive edition of the LP available on “platinum ice” vinyl.

The band has been busy in 2025, garnering new audiences as the recipient of a host of new remixes. Last month, the group released a remix EP, Kool Summer, that reimagines some of the most beloved tracks in their discography.

Kool Summer featured remixes that transform some of the band’s biggest hits into high-energy tracks built with dancefloors in mind. Collaborators on the project include a cohort of global producers and remixers: DJ Crazy, who played a key role in bringing Baltimore club music to the mainstream; Prince Hakim, who hails from a long line of musicians, including his father, Robert “Kool” Bell of Kool & The Gang; The Reflex, a London-based DJ who’s soundtracked for stars like Louis Vuitton and Karl Lagerfeld; Adam Ten, an underground trendsetter with hits such as “3 Days Later” and “Spring Girl”; and Young Franco, an Australian producer and DJ packing venues around the world.

Hi Tension were a key band in the 70s/80s explosion of Brit soul and their music’s never quite gone away. It’s destined to be with us a lot longer as two of the original members – Paul Phillips and Jeff Guishard – come together in a fierce, feisty and funky new band HOTT WAX (yes two “T”s) imploring us to ‘Love The Way You Feel The Funk’.

Now we’ve just said that Hott Wax are a new band… well not quite. Fans of Hi Tension will know that when the band was formed back in 1977 they were called Hot Waxx (yes two “X”s); a swift name change and the rest is history, until now!

The re-formed Hott Wax are, as we said above, just as fierce, feisty and funky as the original Hi Tension… as witnessed on this new ‘Love The Way You Feel The Funk’. It’s brassy and bold, catchy and clever, raw and real.

Donna Summer Returns to the Billboard Charts

Donna Summer passed away more than a decade ago in 2012, leaving behind an incredible legacy of upbeat dance music and sensual R&B-leaning tunes. Years after her passing, the celebrated superstar scores her first new win on a Billboard chart in quite a long time as the surprise radio win begins its journey.

Summer is the credited vocalist on "Run" alongside songwriter and producer Toby Gad. The two reportedly worked on the tune during her lifetime for her final album, but the cut didn’t make the tracklist, so Gad decided to release it many years later. This frame, “Run” opens at No. 30 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Legends of soul music hardly come bigger than The Temptations & the Four Tops, and the pair of classic Motown acts will be hitting the road together once again as they announce new co-headline dates in the UK next year.
